The Allendale Community for Mature Living in Bergen County, New Jersey, is the premier continuum-of-care facility, comprised of three separate residences: The Atrium for residential living, Carlton Court for assisted living and The Allendale Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.

Founded by Dr. Hector Giancarlo 40 years ago, it continues to reflect his personal philosophy of “family first” in caring for seniors in a warm, friendly style which has earned it a reputation for professionalism, innovation and accessibility.

Allendale Community for Mature Living Residents are accepted without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation or handicap. Services are available to all Residents, when eligible.

History and Philosophy

Developed in stages beginning in 1967, The Allendale Community for Mature Living has evolved into a full-service retirement community where residents can enjoy an individualized lifestyle tailored to their specific preferences and needs. While each facility provides its own distinct program, the Community's services and activities overlap as required or desired.

The Community's primary goal is to maximize independence for each resident while providing a comfortable, warm and elegant environment. In addition, programs and services are designed to help residents reach their full potential. In many cases, seniors who begin their residency under the intensive care of The Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center are able to move into Carlton Court or The Atrium.

Staff and Key Management

Dr. Hector R. Giancarlo, M.D., F.A.C.S., the Founder and President of The Allendale Community for Mature Living, was a prominent E.N.T. Surgeon in New York City and former Chairman of Otolaryngology at the New York Eye and Ear Hospital. In many ways, Dr. Giancarlo is a pioneer in the senior living industry: The Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, Carlton Court and The Atrium were all among the first facilities of their kind in New Jersey. Dr. Giancarlo has also sat on the N.J. Department of Health Licensing.

The Atrium's Amenities

The Atrium's superb cuisine is prepared by our talented chefs, who can expertly tailor the menu to your particular dietary needs. In The Atrium's elegant dining room, the experience of eating in a fine restaurant is yours with every exquisite meal.

Since The Atrium is your home, family and guests are free to visit whenever you would like. Available for your enjoyment are comfortable lounges, a fully equipped health club, library, gam and craft rooms, interfaith chapel, theater, arcade, putting green and gardens, as well as a convenience store.

The Atrium offers a varied schedule of activities for you to participate in every day of the week. Go on one of our frequently offered outings or take an excursion of your own, courtesy of The Atrium's chauffeured transportation. Fine shopping, superb cultural events and popular entertainment are all easily accessible thanks to our central location.
